Marsha Dodson

Marsha R. Dodson is the Co-Founder of Empowering Parents, Concerned Parents Alliance, Inc. and its educational component College Bound San Diego. She is the co-author of “Empowering Parents: A Parents Guide to Taking Control of Your Child’s Educational Journey”.

Marsha travels throughout the country empowering parents, families, administrators, educators and communities on educational issues, parent/family empowerment and taking control of one’s educational journey. She is a proud woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc.

Marsha is committed to helping empower students and parents to take an active role in their educational journey from kindergarten to high school to college and beyond.

She understands the importance of parental engagement in a child’s ability to achieve excellence. Marsha strives to ensure that all students are given access to a quality education, including high academic expectations from their parents, teachers, administrators, and the community.

Marsha has a proven track record of helping youth seek leadership and community service opportunities. She understands the importance of teaching youth to develop networking skills, build self-confidence and find their true passion through internship and mentoring programs. Marsha has used her negotiation skills to build community relations and seek donors who are willing to provide financial, mentoring and career resources to help youth reach their goals and make a difference in this world.

Through her experience raising her special needs daughter, Camry, Marsha has developed an expertise in the area of Special Education and a unique understanding of what it takes to ensure that all children are given access to a quality education.

Marsha is the sixth of seven children of Edmondson and Marilyn Overton. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and a Certificate in Government Contract Management from San Diego State University.

Marsha has three children, Amber 26, Jason 25, and Camry 21. Amber is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and Florida State University. Jason graduated from Loyola Marymount University and Camry,
