Michael Keely

NAMCO INSURANCE RISK MANAGEMENT/SURETY MEMBER

Michael Keely

Michael Keeley founded MGK Risk and Insurance Services, Inc. in 2008. Prior to forming MGK Risk he founded, served as Vice President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of J&K Risk and Insurance Services, Inc. from 1997 until 2008.  Mr. Keeley’s insurance career spans 32 years and his techniques for risk analysis and program accountability have been termed cutting edge by industry professionals.

During his insurance career Michael has demonstrated a unique skill set based on a successful integration between insurance companies techniques, honed during his eighteen-year insurance carrier career, and broker/risk management skills implemented during his J&K Risk era.

He is one of the few brokers who possess insurance company experience, legal training and risk management/insurance broker experience.  This combination of skills, in addition to his ownership of a small business, position him to understand and apply risk management principles in the context of both an advocate for his clients and understanding risk profiles analyzed by insurance companies.  Michael is thus an extremely effective advocate on behalf of clients.

Currently Mr. Keeley provides assistance to clients in risk management and property/casualty insurance placements, as well as owner controlled insurance programs.  His clients include SMUD, the Greater Sacramento Urban League, PG&E and the Golden Gate Bridge HTD.  He has also served as an insurance advisor to a State Insurance Commissioner, interim Risk Manager to the City of Sacramento and expert on insurance matters as they pertain to the impact on minority communities.

Member of the Insurance Diversity Task Force, Michael received his undergraduate education at UCLA and his Juris Doctor from UC Hastings College of the Law.  He is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce; a member of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District Community Advisory Panel (on procurement for small businesses), past Chairman; past President of the Black Insurance Professionals of Sacramento; past Board Member of the Greater Sacramento Urban League and a founding member of the African American Insurance Professionals of Los Angeles, CA.  Michael resides in Granite Bay, CA.
